Q: You are a solo doc.  That must mean that you have a crazy way of practicing medicine, right?
A: No.  By being a solo physician with no office staff and a small practice I am able to operate with less than one-half of the overhead of traditional primary care clinics.  This translates into fewer patient visits daily and more time spent with my patients.  My shortest office visit is 30 minutes.  I am an Ideal Medical Practice.

Q: What is an Ideal Medical Practice?
A: This term describes an outpatient primary care clinic that adopts a low overhead, high technology model to deliver extremely personal care. Started by Dr. Gordon Moore over eight years ago, this model of care has now grown to include nearly 100 other individual practices around the country. It has been featured in many quality initiatives including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, national business initiatives related to improving healthcare, national media including the Wall Street Journal, and other forums.

Q: Who answers the phone?
A: I do.  If I am with a patient, the machine will pick up and I will call you back soon.  Scheduling is also available online, and e-visits are an option for established patients.

Q: If there are no other staff in the office, what do you do about female exams?
A: A female chaperone is necessary for all exams involving examination of private areas of female patients.  A female patient is encouraged to bring in her own chaperone.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Yes. I accept most insurance plans as well as Medicare and Medicaid.

Q: If you are not part of a large group will it be difficult to refer me, if needed, to a specialist?
A:  No.  I can refer just as I would within a large organization.

Q: Do you admit to a hospital?
A: Yes. I admit to the St. Cloud Hospital and have an arrangement with the Mid-Minnesota Clinic to assist with hospital care.
